Items/SKUs

This post states different kinds of items that can be defined in Oracle APPS and used in various Implementations.
For Starters lets consider three types of items that can be defined in Oracle Apps.
1)Expense items/consumables
2)Inventory Expense items
3)Inventory Asset items/Stock Keeping Units (SKUs)

Now we state the attributes that defines the above mentioned attributes .

1)Expense items/Consumables

Expense items have two attributes viz purchasing and purchasable checked .
Note : The attribute purchasable is dependent on the attribute Purchased ie An item may not be purchasable unless it is purchased.
An item may not have Purchasable set to "YES" unless Purchased is also set to "YES".














2)Inventory Expense items

These five attributes define an Inventory Expense item

  • Inventory item-Yes
  • Stockable - Yes
  • Transactable -Yes
  • Inventory Asset Value- NO( This attribute Indicate whether to value an item as an asset in inventory. Turning this option off indicates an expense item.)
  • Costing Enabled- NO  ( Note : This attribute is dependent upon the Inventory asset Value Attribute, which means Costing Enabled should be "Yes" if Inventory Asset Value is "Yes" This attribute indicate whether to report, value, and account for any item costs. For example, you might disable costing for reference items, or for invoice only (non-stock) items that you never ship and never hold in inventory.)

3)Inventory Asset items/Stock Keeping Units (SKUs)




  • Inventory item-Yes
  • Stockable - Yes
  • Transactable -Yes
  • Inventory Asset Value- Yes
  • Inventory Costing - Yes

    Before we start understanding scheduling we need to know certain terms and how they are derived in Oracle. Terminology Understanding the following terms will help you understand how scheduling works in OM. Actual Arrival Date - The date the order line arrives at the customer site.
